9-7 Victory Over LT Leaves HCHS at 2-0 in Conference Play

Separated by a short 3 mile drive and I-294, the HCHS-LT rivalry never disappoints, regardless of the sport. Lacrosse brings a little different flavor to the competition, with many of the athletes working together as teammates during the club season. The hotly contested rivalry game creates bragging rights through the long hot days of summer club lacrosse...and this year's bragging rights contest did not disappoint.

LT jumped all over the Devils dropping three goals in the first stanza. Jolted awake after their long spring break soiree, the Devils finally came to life with a big second quarter drawing to within one, 4-3, at halftime.

Junior Peter Madden and Senior Co-Captain, Colin Parker, took the Devil surge into the second half. Madden's four goal one assist evening was the offensive punch needed for Hinsdale, as they ended the third period up 6-4. Parker, as has become the norm, was all over the field in his role as the team's lead playmaker. His three points, on one goal and two assists, set the pace as the Devils took control of the game. With the offense clicking the defense put the clamps on the Lions, pitching a shut out in the third quarter.  Seniors John and Joe Kwasigroch were flying all over the field as the defensive disruptors and sophomore goal tender, Capison Pang, stopped each of the two shots on cage in the pivotal twelve minutes.

The wounded Lions weren't rolling over in the fourth quarter. The frantic pace led to three goals by both teams as the rivals battled over the last period. Senior Jake Simon answered  LT's charge with a goal late in the game to put the exclamation point on the 9-7 victory.  Central is now 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. Ranked #9 in the IHSLA poll, the Devils next see action Tuesday, April 11th at Dickinson vs. #13 ranked Wheaton Warrenville South. First Face Off is an early 5:30pm.
